A day in Zermatt (Switzerland), up to Gornegrat.
In the cog-wheel train, waiting to reach the peak.
Here we are, his majesty the Matterhorn in the background
A short hike to admire the massive of Mount Rosa and its glaciers
A final selfie at lake Riffelsee
Shade against sunburns, waiting for the train down

Off the Swiss mountains, piece by piece we fall.
Stocked into private fences, we are broken and worked
and piled up as high as what stores us.
We run in and out, some are left behind
All of us aiming at the final conveyor, to go back there where we come from. Rocks we were, rocks we will always be.

Seh’ ich dich im Strahlenmeer,
Dich, du Hocherhabener, Herrlicher!
Wenn der Alpen Firn sich rötet,
Betet, freie Schweizer, betet,
Eure fromme Seele ahnt,
Eure fromme Seele ahnt,
Gott im hehren Vaterland!
Gott, den Herrn, im hehren Vaterland!

A colourful, light and joyful paper rain
to cover the roads and people of Neuchâtel!
Because no shelter will be strong enough
no umbrella wide enough
no street corner safe enough.
Everything and everybody will disappear under this colourful rain
and what will lie down the line … nothing more than confetti on the floor.

Still some mountain road to climb …
… the last bends before reaching the last pass of the tour, the Sustenpass.
Time for a walk towards the last glacier, at the base of Sustenjoch …
… and when the alpine path gets too long, the zoom comes to help.
The magnificent Sustenstrasse climbs up this untouched valley
cuts through the cliffs via several tunnels carved into the rocks
and when the valley seems to come to and end without any exit
here comes the blue and white Steingletscher
Enjoy this 70-200 mm VR-II zoom view, the other pictures shot with 16-35 mm f/4. Soon the last stop-over of this fantastic voyage though the heart of Switzerland. Click each picture to magnify.
Although in the ancient Roman town of Augusta Raurica,
these pictures where shot in 2013 …
