Asian hikes

A day in Zermatt (Switzerland), up to Gornegrat.

In the cog-wheel train, waiting to reach the peak.

Here we are, his majesty the Matterhorn in the background

A short hike to admire the massive of Mount Rosa and its glaciers

A final selfie at lake Riffelsee

All rack railways bring to Gornergrat

The base station of the Gornergrat rack railway in Zermatt, Switzerland, is situated at 1,634 meters of altitude.

With a maximum inclination of 200 per thousand, the railway covers a 1,456 meter drop

It runs through the Alpine heart of the Swiss and Italian Alps: 29 peaks piercing the sky above 4,000 meters are visible through the panoramic windows

A last bend in front of the magnificent Matterhorn (4,478 m)

Finally up at 3,090 meters: the Mount Rosa massive and its glaciers decorate the arrival station. Click each picture to enlarge
