Sticky pictures from the scene of the crime
Which weapon killed most of them? Toothed traps?
Sticky mats?
Glue drops?
Find it by clicking on the pictures, shot with a Nikkor 16-35 mm f/4 that almost got glued onto these carnivore plants. Its minimal focus distance is 29 cm and evaluating it through the wide angle is often counter intuitive. For broader point of views on toothed Dionaea muscipula , sticky Pinguicula gigantea and gluey Drosera capensis click on the square pictures below.
Nikkor AF-S 16-35 mm 1:4G ED: wide lens for panorama … and for flowers too.

Where to test the Nikkor 16-35 mm under this grey, equal sky today? Not outside, although I got this lens for border less skies and full size buildings.. . The minimal distance from the lens is 28 cm … none of my other lens can reach it. Let’s test it with flowers and apples! Awesome lens, it substituted my 17-35 mm dream lens but I am not aware of what I lost. For sure, I earned a VR stabilizer, very useful at least for “macro” subjects. Let’s hope in Spring finally coming for outdoor tests …
Night, frozen, still … life?
There is a garden closed by night…
…there is a path going through the garden…
…there are lamps at the side of the path.
Each lamp has something to show…
…in this frozen…
…white night.
How to photo retouch your pale shots into real black&white art

Let’s say you had a wonderful day on the snow, though without too much sunlight. Most colours in your pictures look like 70s’ toilet paper (pale blue, pale green, pale brown and so on). Pity, you could have had so beautiful shape/contrast silhouette with those black trees, people and white snow background.
It is time to open your photo retouch software and pimp your snow day:
– convert to black and white
– choose maximum whites
– enhance the contrast with blacks
– level blacks and whites up
In this way you get real black and white pictures and not boring shadows of grey. Dare with dark blacks and white whites the more you can and let the atmosphere you enjoyed pop out of your art!
