The sea gives … the sea takes.
Not only swimming and walking at the beach. When the Ocean takes the beloved ones, there is no else than shores to leave flowers in their memory.
The fresh flowers on the beach you see in half of the pictures were for the burial of three unlucky fishermen, drown in front of Adraga shores, close to Sintra, Portugal. Click each picture to magnify.
And when it starts raining on the beach …
and you have to turn back and pick up wife and daughter
and the table you reserved will be left to the rain
and seagulls have a shower to wash the salt away
that’s the moment to leave surf and wet suit and have a game on the empty beach! Pictures shot in front of Forte de São Julião da Barra with D800 + 50 mm or 70-200 mm on the beach of Carcavelos (Cascais). Click to enlarge
Rocks we were and rocks we will be
Off the Swiss mountains, piece by piece we fall.
Stocked into private fences, we are broken and worked
and piled up as high as what stores us.
We run in and out, some are left behind
All of us aiming at the final conveyor, to go back there where we come from. Rocks we were, rocks we will always be.
On my footsteps between Katwijk and Noordwijk …
I pretended to walk back to Katwijk on my old footsteps …

… but winds and waves wiped them away from the shores.
I could spy sea monsters on the horizon …
But they soon disappeared to leave a clear view to South.
And then I cut through the sandy dunes …
to reach the safe harbour of Katwijk
just before the Sun set
and darkness covered the world.
