13. A lucky underwater encounter
Underwater, while snorkeling 1 km away from the shores of Agia Fotia (Lybian sea), non human eyes gazed at me.
A turtle was behind me: Caretta caretta first time encounter in my life.
I followed its trail, with its slow and peaceful underwater cruising
It pointed to the surface to quickly breath air above the surface…
…and then it disappeared in the blue abysses south of Fotia

This year snorkeling surprised with many encounters I supposed not usual in the Mediterranean sea. Common species of Red and Indian-Pacific seas were not rare in the Greek and Libyan sea of Crete in 2022
Sea urchins with very long (mildly venomous) needles
Red Lionfish (venomous, too) on both north and south shores
A delicious, Mediterranean cuttlefish
Barracuda, also (?) common the Mediterranean sea
